ash never ages. This is something that I was really curious about since I have been watching the anime ever since I was a kid, and was just wonder how come ash is still ten years old? He should be older by know, so I did some research and made this video. I hope you guys like it!

Hello how are you guys doing today, my name is black tarzan, and today we are going to talk about why Ash never ages, coming up! Ash Ketchum is the protagonist of the Pokemon anime, whose goal is to be the greatest Pokemon Master of all time. When the show began back in 1997, Ash started on his journey throughout the Pokemon world at the age of ten, and several years later, he is still ten-years-old. There have been many fan theories as to why he's perpetually ten. Some range from coma-induced dreams, while others look at evidence within the series to answer this commonly asked question. Coma Theory. The coma theory states that when ash got into an accident with the bike in the first episode he entered into a coma. And all the people he meets after that, are just dreams and manifestations of his own mental characteristics. Ho Oh Theory. The Ho Oh theory is about a pokemon named Ho Oh. The pokedex description for Ho oh says “It possesses seven-colored wings. It is said that those who see Ho-Oh are promised an eternal happiness.” It is suggested that for ash, eternal happiness is always being on a pokemon journey. Therefore, when Ash saw Ho oh in the first episode, it grants Ash’s subconscious wish, to always be on a pokemon journey, and to never grow older. Eternal Youth Theory. According to the eternal youth theory, like in many cartoons, the characters never age, and are trapped at the age of their first appearance. This also suggests that the show has a floating timeline. However, this seems strange since the passage of time is pointed out every once in a while, without the mention of any character's birthday. The dub has mentioned large periods of time passing, despite Ash still being 10 years old in in The Shadow of Zekrom! Slowed Time Theory. According to the slowed time theory, because only one half-hour episode airs approximately each week, the flow of time in the anime is considerably slower than in real life. This theory is supported by the apparent, though minimal, growth of the characters, as well as the noted marks of time. However, this theory still faces the same problems as the Eternal Youth theory. Arbitrary Age Theory. According to the arbitrary age theory, the label of an age has a different significance in the Pokémon world than in the real world. In their culture, the numerical "age" of a person is not representative of the amount of years which they have lived, but representative of the person's familial status. When a person comes of age and is ready to head out into the world of Pokémon, they are labeled "ten." When a person has children, they are labeled "twenty." When they have grandchildren, "fifty." Death Theory. The death theory states that when ash got into accident with the bike in the first episode he suffered a brain injury and died. Ash then went to heaven and was granted the freedom to explore his imagination, and to do whatever he wants. While there are many theories out there, I believe that the writers of pokemon keep Ash at the same age to fit in with the show’s young target audience. This is because people usually outgrow the series, and stop watching it once they become older. I believe that the executives of pokemon probably want to just to keep the show going forever, so that they can make a bunch of money, selling things like merchandise, video games, and movies. Even though I am an adult, I will continue to watch pokemon for the rest of my life, and I’ll stick around to see if the pokemon show gets any better over the years.
